Upon completion of this chapter, you are required to:

  1. Master the basic words forming TCM terms associated with this chapter.

  4. Describe the roles that medicinals play in a formula.
  5. Discuss the preparation form* of the formula.
  6. Explain interaction between medicinals.

TCM is characterized by the wide use of medicinal formulae, which are capable of systematically treating diseases.

Formula study is the branch of TCM concerned with therapeutic principles, combination of medicinal ingredients, composition of prescriptions and the clinical uses of medicinals.
